MySQL 4.0.27 のインストール&初期設定。
ユーザ mysql:mysql が作成されていることが前提です。

# tar zxvf mysql-4.0.27.tar.gz
# cd mysql-4.0.27
# ./configure
? --with-mysql-user=mysql

? --without-innodb

To start mysqld at boot time you have to copy support-files/mysql.server
to the right place for your system
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:
/usr/local/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password'
/usr/local/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h webserver.sundaybreeze.jp password 'new-password'

You can start the MySQL daemon with:
cd /usr/local ; /usr/local/bin/mysqld_safe &
You can test the MySQL daemon with the benchmarks in the 'sql-bench' directory:
cd sql-bench ; perl run-all-tests
Please report any problems with the /usr/local/bin/mysqlbug script!

# cp -p support-files/mysql.server /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql.server.sh
# chmod 555 /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql.server.sh
# chown -R mysql:mysql /usr/local/var
/etc/my.cnfは旧サーバ使用のものをそのまま。
# /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql.server.sh start
で起動します。
ログインは、初回なら
# mysql -u root
パスワードの桁数の問題がありましたので
mysql.userとmysql.dbの両テーブルについては
手でメンテナンス。
従来のIDとパスワードをinsert。
# /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql.server.sh stop
# /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql.server.sh start
で落とし上げすれば、従来のIDとパスワードで
入れるようになります。
configオプションに
--with-low-memoryつけるの忘れた。。。
